Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care


Overview

The 120 credit level 3 diploma is particularly relevant for those who wish to specialise in a particular area of work and are looking to gain employment in the vocational sector. Learners also may wish to use this qualification to expand on knowledge from the Level 3 certificate or subsidiary diploma, or to progress to a level 4 programme.

This qualification is equivalent to 2 GCE A Levels. A minimum of 120 credits must be obtained for this course.

Mandatory units must reach 80 credits and include:

  • Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care
  • Health, Safety and Security in Health and Social Care
  • Development through the life stages
  • Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care
  • Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care (requires 100 hours of work experience)
  • Sociological Perspectives for Health and Social Care
  • Psychological Perspectives for Health and Social Care


40 credits are to be obtained from selected optional units decided between the learner and the tutor.
